The absence of the contract with someone prevents me from using my powers actually. I need a Master in order to use them, to authorize them.

Are you able to form a contract with anyone, or is there a specific requirement for that sort of thing?

I'm guessing I can form one with anyone, now that my original contract has been invalidated. There is a hitch to it though, and that anyone who is tied to me, will suffer the same damage, pain and even death if I die in battle.

The contract that is invalidated - this is the one you mentioned as having been broken? And a contract has never been broken before? Surely there must have been instances of incompatibility...?

It has been broken before, but that's a process called Retirement, but nothing like this before. I've yet to hear about an Otome/Master duo that was incompatible with the system before.

Retirement is the only other way to stop a contract from activating, but it also strips an Otome of their powers, as the Nanotechnology in their body is broken down by the introduction of the Y chromosome into an Otome's body. In short, I can't lay with a man if I wish to keep my powers.

O-oh. [ Awk-waaaaaard. But she asks anyway because she's genuinely curious. ] Have there been many instances of ... Otome going into Retirement?

Oh - where are you currently living?

Not many, but the lady Fumi, the first Otome retired in the same way. It is uncommon, but sometimes some Otome choose love over duty, and are spared the pseudo-war that we wage as symbols of power.

So you're in the middle of a war on your own world, right now? [ Pseudo or not. ]

The Deeps District -- I know where that is. [ She glances around her apartment thoughtfully - there was certainly enough room for simple tests. Anything particularly complicated and she'd have to see if there were labs she could use, or at least acquire the equipment. ]

I'm in the Docks District. When did you want to have your first check up? It might take a little bit longer since it'll be the first time, but any after that, provided there are no problems, shouldn't take long at all.

In a sense. A war is fought between Otome, sister against sister in order to prevent full scale war from happening. Each Otome is basically a tool of war and their Masters are leaders of the people.

I can come down in a day or so, to give you time to gather things to prepare. Just call me when you need me there.
