[ There's a Shion in the Docks district puttering about. Putter putter! Putter. ]

You'll have to forgive me if this question has been asked already - but with the exception of those already from my world, how many here have experience in engineering and maintenance of mobile suits, or mecha.

I've offered to help someone with the proper maintenance of theirs, but I'll need a team of two other people to support me with the system.

Well, one, actually. Allen, I'd like you to back me up.

[ A pause, and then. ]

KOS-MOS, Jr.? How are you two doing?

[ She already talked to Wilhelm recently so she doesn't include him, SO THERE. ]

[ And as promised, Shion arrives at the hangar a few minutes later, glancing at the other mecha, E.S' and suchlike on her way to find the young Captain. ]

[Said captain is leaping out of the hatch of his Gundam and onto the catwalk in front of it. He seems to be holding something.]

Hey, good timing!

[ Shion smiles in greeting when she catches sight of Asem. ]

Good afternoon Captain Asuno -- or do you prefer Asem? What's that you have there? [ Motioning to said thing in his hands. ]

Nah, you don't need to be formal. This isn't my military.

Um, how are things?

I have no complaints. I've been keeping busy, and some friends of mine have shown up here. Although it would seem that I'm a bit behind chronologically, from the rest of them.

...Oh. That's...gotta be awkward for all of you.

[He's got something of a knowing look on his face, as if he's in a similar situation.]

Anyway. Here, take a look at this.

[With that, he holds out the device in his hand. It's got some data on the screen.]

It is, a little.

[ But they wouldn't be keeping things from her - if it was that important! Of course she could just ask, but she keeps getting distracted. ]

Oh - what is it? [ She reaches out to take said device in order to give it a better look. ]

Is this related to your mobile suit?

That's the AGE Device -- the key of the AGE System. My mobile suit won't even start without it. That's what gathers all the combat data.

It's as much a literal key - is it something you have to physically place into the mobile suit, or does it contain a level of encryption in it to cause it to start?

I have to physically place it in the cockpit. So yeah, a literal key. It's a bit different for the third component of the AGE System, though.

Hm... Oh? [ Almost got distracted there. ]

How is it different?

The third component is the AGE Builder. It receives data from the AGE Device and builds new weapons and equipment to compensate for the Gundam's weaknesses or to exploit the enemy's weaknesses.

Interesting... but if this is the first component and key, and the third component is the AGE builder, what's the second component?

The Gundam!

[He jerks his thumb back toward where the Gundam AGE-2 is standing.]

I use the Gundam in combat and gather data, the AGE Device processes the data, and the AGE Builder makes new parts based on the data.

Then these three components work in conjunction with each other, like the parts of an organic body. I suspect the three others to monitor the computer coordinate each component as its needed, so that the pilot isn't overwhelmed?

Usually just one person watches the computer terminal on the AGE Builder during a fight. That gets data from the AGE Device.

If only one person monitors the terminal - why do you need three?

[ Ooor it could be a rotation - or there was more to it that she just hasn't let him finish explaining. Bad Shion. ]
