[If you are in the Grand Library, you might find your eye caught by the patron who just walked in. She's somewhat tall, with ankle-length, lavender hair. She's wearing glasses, a black shirt, and denim capris. Not the kind of woman you're used to seeing.
She walks in, passes the front counter, sits down at a computer for five minutes, then walks off into the many, many shelves found in the building. She emerges with a book, then heads to the lounge to settle in and read. Eventually, enough time will pass that she'll decide she can't finish the book in the library, so she returns to the shelves, takes another book, and checks both books out.
If you would like to talk to her, you may do so at any point in the library or on the road between the Grand Library and the Palace District villa.]

Seated at a nearby table, Wilhelm is sipping a glass of wine, and is playing chess with a librarian - who, for someone who was looking smug earlier, appears irritated, stressed out, and knows they're about to lose, and lose badly. Wilhelm takes another sip of the wine, not even looking at the chess board, and instead keeping his red eyes locked on those of his opponent. Wilhelm had two bishops, a rook, a knight, and his queen still on the field. The librarian had lost almost all of her pawns, her queen, both bishops, and one rook. ]
You are incapable of thinking ahead. You focus only on the immediate act, and not on the play as a whole.
[ Wilhelm then moved his queen four spaces downward and diagonally.]
Check.
[ He says quietly. The librarian grins and immediately used the rook to take his queen. Without thinking twice, Wilhelm used his knight to take the rook, then placing the librarian's king in check yet again, thanks to his Bishop. The only other escape route was cut off by the knight and Wilhelm's rook. ]
You will be in checkmate in two turns. You will move your king back, and I will pursue with my other bishop. You will attempt to defend your king with that other knight, which will be taken by my second bishop, placing you in checkmate.
[ The librarian stewed for a few seconds, but then flipped her king over and stormed off. Wilhelm patiently watches her leave, and finished his glass of wine. ]

Psyching the other person out in a board game?

I was curious.
[ Wilhelm folds his hands together on the table. ]
Arrogance is such a common trait amongst humans. So too is the tendency to run away the moment their arrogance is broken. So too is it amongst the people of this world.

[ A bit of a tongue-twister. Wilhelm had thought a world ruled over by more (seemingly?) benevolent deities than U-DO might have humans different from the ones from his universe. So far, that doesn't appear to be the case. ]
I have many names in my universe. I am most commonly referred to as Wilhelm, however.
