Perhaps I should've say 'a hero', instead of 'the hero', language can be quite labyrinthine.

Well, you are the first who say that openly, others I met seem willing to accept the roles as they are assigned.

Fate, and the future, are ever changing. What I had meant is that the nature of heroism is entirely subjective. An act of heroism to one, may be the height of villainy to another.

Whining? I see it simply as a statement of fact, but I suppose anything less then a bold declaration of intent is 'whining' to a 'King of Heroes'.

I don't see anything wrong with being thrown into conflict, if you're capable. What's life in the first place, but a fight and a struggle?
