FEAST!

With Qin's army pushed back, Thor called all of his guests to the palace, along with many of the other warriors of Midgard. Strange machines from forgotten pantheons that sought refuge, Valkyries in Thor's service, regular humans who took up arms and many others. Most of them looked upon the heroes from the bifrost in awe. Everyone was led by attendants to a huge, long room with polished stone floors, filled with rows of long tables of beautiful craftsmanship. Thor himself, a nine foot tall image of manly perfection in furs and leather, stood up from his seat at a table that was different from the other only in that it was big enough to make room for the god's large size, addressed the room.

"My guests! My friends! You have fought well this day and driven the enemy before you so much cattle! You have bent them to your will with martial skill and pure fury! You have made me proud and given me knew hope for the race of man!"

He raised a drinking horn high into the air, his voice thundering like, well, like a thunder god. "Tonight, eat, drink, and celebrate! Tonight we feast!"

With that, attendants and human servants brought in huge trays of food. The focus is on beer, bread, and meat, but there are plenty of other options for those so inclined. They only serve soft drinks to children (Anyone under 16), but by the standards of this place beer and mead are soft drinks. All around the room, musicians, dancers, and acrobats provided entertainment.

It was a hell of a party.

As chance would have it, Asem was sitting nearby, enjoying a meal consisting of a half rack of baby-back ribs, a baked sweet potato, and assorted greens. He also had a glass of mead sitting next to him -- to be fair, he is nineteen.

Despite being in the middle of his meal, Asem was able to notice Einhard's body language as she took a sip of her drink. "Hey, are you OK?"

Einhard blinked, turning over to Asem before nodding a bit. "Yeah. I'm alright. I just... wasn't expecting the drink, that's all," she said, frowning a bit as she made sure to keep the drink as far away from the rest of her food as possible.

"...They spiked everything, didn't they?" Asem stabbed his fork into a carrot. "Shouldn't these guys know that there's a reason that kids shouldn't be drinking alcohol?"

Einhard blushed a bit, nodding. "Actually, they just poured me beer. I have a feeling what they consider drinks they wouldn't give a child to be a lot stronger than this..."

[second_destiny]

Facepalm time. "I knew Norse gods liked their alcohol, but this is ridiculous. Maybe you can try asking for water or something."

Einhard nodded again, before letting out a sigh. "That's... probably what I'm going to have to do. I would've asked for that in the first place, but I didn't want to be rude. I wasn''t thinking they would be willing to do anything like that."

She then blinked, as something occurred to her. "What do you mean by Norse gods? You've heard of these people before?"

"You mean you haven't?" Asem forgot about his food for a minute. "The god Thor and valkyries come from Norse mythology."

[hegemonstratos]

Einhard blinked, looking over at him. "I've never even heard of this Norse mythology before. What world does it originate from?"

[second_destiny]

"...From Earth. The Scandinavian Peninsula." Asem blinked. "You're not from Earth?"

[hegemonstratos]

Einhard shook her head. "No. I'm from a world called Mid-Childa."

[second_destiny]

"Mid-Childa? I haven't heard of that one." Asem hasn't spent enough time in the library to know all the worlds represented, though.

[hegemonstratos]

Einhard shrugged. "Unless you have magical potential, I don't see why you would. As far as I know there's only three or so people from Earth alive now that even know anything about my world. And two of them live on Mid-Childa now."

[second_destiny]

"I started looking up things in the Grand Library. I thought I should actually know some things about this place. I'll probably find something eventually."

[hegemonstratos]

Einhard looked over at him for the moment. "The Grand Library has information on the other world's that we all came from?"

[second_destiny]

Mouthful of mead goes down. "Are you surprised? They've got a device to open travel to other worlds. I think it makes sense."

[hegemonstratos]

Einhard shook her head. "No, I'm not surprised. I should've realized there would've been some place to get that information. I'm going to need to take a look sometime."

[second_destiny]

"You should! There's tons of information in there. But the place is huge, so it's a little too easy to get lost."

[hegemonstratos]

Einhard gave a little shrug at that comment. "I'll just need to be a bit careful and make sure I remember where I'm going then."
