[The page shows a red-eyed woman whose paleness goes beyond the natural shades of even albinoness and into the outright monochrome range. There are three colors on her: black, white, and red. This even extends to her clothing, a simple black casual suit with a red tie.]

I checked out this place. There's no plan and no organization. They summoned us as a desperate move to fix a situation that they likely got themselves into. How irritating. Even the Queen of Dreams had better planning than this. Though she got herself into her own mess, too.

But we've got those morons to fight, who'll create a mess for our worlds if we don't deal with them. We need organization, and we need knowledge. I'm going to learn about our enemies and how to destroy their will to fight so we can defeat them more easily. For that, I'd like any prisoners you acquire brought to me so I can ask them questions. It's not like I've got any other use for the place they gave me in the Docks.

Oh, right, you need names and things like that. You can call me Deimonea. It's not the first name I've had, but it's one that's stuck around.

Someone who has a sense of strategy that goes beyond "hitting things until they fall down?" This is definitely unusual. And welcome.

Really, hitting stuff is others' job. Some of what I did in the Dream Savior War doesn't apply here because this's a waking world, not a dream world. But there's always a place for someone who knows other approaches than that.

Sounds to be a curious thing. Not unheard of, I suppose. Are you a youkai of some sort, then?

I'm a Dream. More specifically a Nightmare. Japanese people've called me a youkai, but I'm pretty sure none exist in my world.

Good thing Mononobe isn't here then. Prince Shoutoku seems to be adjusting to living side by side with youkai, but I don't think Mononobe's wrapped her head around it yet.

Does she show any amusing reactions to youkai?

Depends. Does starting a fight with nearly every non-human she runs into count as amusing?

That's more tiresome than amusing.

I was created with more of a sense of humor than a sense of grace.

One or the other is enough for a woman to be appealing; I'm not a picky man.

You also have a good point. The gods here seem about as well organized as any others.

[Eyes and teeth start showing up in places where they shouldn't be, as she grins.] Appealing?

I suppose it's normal for gods to be this organized. Mine was the same.

At any rate, I'm a king, so perhaps I should take charge of whatever hierarchy we have here. I'll lead from the front, naturally, but it would be beneficial to have a central leadership.

[The teeth and eyes don't go away, but neither does the cheerful attitude.] So you're a king. I've seen remarkable kings as well as moronic and weak kings. They all died after a while, but the former did far more interesting things. I wonder what sort of king you'll turn out to be.

Tch. Do I need to start carrying around a resume? I'm Gilgamesh, the first great King mankind ever had.

And when it comes to protecting a city, I'm second to absolutely no one.

Oh, you're that guy? I suppose if it's true you'd be one of the more interesting kings.

"That guy?" Heh. And who are you, exactly?

You can call me Deimonea. Most Dreamers won't have heard of me, but I'm a Nightmare.

Over six thousand years old and I'm still learning new things. I didn't know nightmares had names. Or faces, for that matter.

This face isn't real, you know. It's just what I show to Dreamers because they need a face. And the name was given to me by a Dreamer long ago.

Face as in "identity". Try to be a little poetic and the bad dream of all people takes you literally...

It's harder to pick those things up with indirect contact like this.

So what do you do besides scare or startle people, anyway?

[phobophage]

Whatever interests me. Mostly I mess around with creating things and trying to understand dreams better. I suppose I'll also do some of the same here did that I did in that tiresome war in my home. Figuring out where to attack the enemy in ways they won't expect and such.
