A few days have passed since the Qin army marched on Midgard's walls. The warriors already there don't know how much longer the front gate can last. The Qin forces are slowly picking off the wall's defenders, whittling down their numbers.

A metallic dragon twists and writhes in the sky, raining destruction from above. Sanzuwu streak back and forth across the sky, strafing and intercepting any aerial units. Shishi slam into the gates repeatedly, while terracotta soldiers make use of siege engines to break down the gate.

And finally, the inevitable occurs; the gate crashes open. Qin soldiers start flooding in.

But at that very moment...the Bifrost activates.

The first wave has come.

[[OoC: Welcome to the game! You'll be starting off fending off a Qin invasion. You are free to godmode enemies within reason, though the mods may occasionally take over from time to time. Defeat enough enemies, and a boss may appear...

Enemy types can be found with descriptions in the cut below.

Dragons - Strange, otherworldly energy beings that serve the Qin. They are given physical, robotic bodies in the form of classic Chinese dragons so that they can interact with physical world. Enormously powerful. Ascend to their home plane if their bodies are destroyed. There are only nine Dragons at any one time, but if ever one is defeated, its body can be rebuilt.

Fenghuang - Flying Qin battleships. Huge. Phoenix themed decoration. Lots of heavy weapons.

Sanzuwu - Qin fightercraft. Fast, lightly armed. Three distinctive landing gear that look like bird legs.

Yaoguai - Soldiers subject to modification experiments that didn't work properly. The Yaoguai are capable in combat, but their upgrades have left them mentally unstable and very violent.

Shishi - Robot lion statues. Powerful frontline warriors.

Terracotta Soldiers - Clay statues of soldiers that have been animated. The rank and file.

As the characters emerge from the Bifrost, Thor awaits. He knows the situation the city is in, and knows that he must impart that knowledge on his chosen heroes.

"Great heroes of the worlds beyond the Bifrost! I, Thor, have summoned you here to defend our city. Unfortunately, we lack the time to properly introduce you to Midgard, as the Qin army is right at our doorstep. Thus, I shall be brief.

"You all come from different walks of life, and possess different abilities. Use them to your utmost; our enemies are powerful, and you risk death if you hold back. If we lose, then the Qin will control this city and, ultimately, the Bifrost. If that happens, then your worlds will be ripe for the picking.

"So FIGHT! Don't drop your guard, don't turn your back! This road will be difficult, but you can persevere! For the sake of this world and yours, the last free city for humanity MUST NOT FALL!"

"YOU COULD HAVE WARNED US YOU WERE THROWING US RIGHT INTO THE THICK OF THINGS!"

The source of the shriek can be heard from a figure floating OVER the rest of the combatants. Soga no Tojiko gawks at the oncoming hordes. Seriously?!

Shock gives away to anger soon enough, however. "All right, you bastards! I'm pissed, and you get to find out why it's bad I'm pissed! For Prince Shoutoku, your advance ends here!" She throws her hands out, peppering the battlefield with lightning bolts. Being angry at the situation can come after the situation is OVER.

Kuja almost laughed himself sick. Heroes? Surely their device is not all that accurate to bring a villain such as himself here. "You may wish to adjust your device if you only wish for heroes, and though the World of Conflict knew war - I suppose this one would not do me any favors to go on unimpeded, after all I was sick of the last war." He pushes hair from his face.


"Well - well, this will be different, being on the side facing an overwhelming force for once." He close his eyes as he floats up, five orbs of light circling around him before shooting out, before exploding in even brighter flashes of light. "HOLY!"

What appears to be a giant, mechanical bird falls from the skies. And another. One more. The final one crashes several tens of feet away from Kuja. Out from the burning wreckage comes the silhouette of an eight legged creature. As it draws nearer, Kuja would find that it's actually a machine. ... Or at least, it's probably a machine judging by the cockpit and the fact that a boy was visibly controlling it from inside. It appears organic enough to pass off as a living creature. While smiling, he looks around him and sees the damage he made.

... and then notices the man in front of him.

"... Nice day to be wearing tights in public, isn't it?"

He glares down at the small boy with a look of contempt. "You are blind to mistake boots for tights, child." Kuja hovers higher, raising his hand up. "Thundaga!" lightning shot from the sky, striking down the foes.

Lancer materializes his spear and turns toward the horde.

"Hell yeah! This is what I'm talking about!"

Clenching his fist, the newcomer just gave a nod, before extending his left hand forward and summoning a sword and brandishing it.

"Then, let's do this."

Einhard blinked, looking around, seeing just what was going on.

Much as she wanted to prove her strength and actually agreed to be here, Einhard figured that they wouldn't throw them into a fight like this so soon.

Though it wasn't something she could worry about now, so she just nodded, Teo perched on her shoulder and letting out a little meowl of annoyance.

Well, she had always wanted to prove her strength after all...

Goku's eyes were wide as he ran along the other troops. Sure, he thought it'd be cool to be here since it was something new and different and he could go back to Konzen whenever he wanted, but he hadn't thought they'd be asked to go into battle the very first thing when they got here. He had no experience at war, unless you count punching out the Poop-head that was Nataku's father.

He ran by Einhard, backtracked right in front of her, pointed at Teo, and said: "Hey! Can I pet him?"

Only Goku would want to stop to pet a cat with an army bearing down on them.

Einhard blinked, her concentration completely shattered as she turned her head to look at the boy who just ran right in front of her. "... What?"

Was he seriously just asking if he could pet her device? Now?

Yes, he was. Goku was nothing if not a master at breaking people's concentration. He'd had enough pots thrown at him to prove it.

"Can I pet him?" Goku had never seen anything like Teo before, after all. Was it some kind of creature or something?

Einhard just stared at him as if he was crazy.

Just... what was wrong with this kid? And could he even really be useful here? Did he have any idea of what they were going up against here?

... Obviously not, he wanted to pet Teo. In the middle of a battlefield.

To be fair, he really hasn't been on a battlefield before in his entire life and had come here with the promise of FEASTS and awesome people to meet and being able to go back to Konzen whenever he liked.

When Einhard just stared at him he fidgeted for a second before reaching up to pet Teo anyway. He had asked nicely, right?

Einhard blinked as the boy held out his hand towards Teo. God, something was really wrong with him, why was he even here if he wasn't going to take this seriously!?

Teo growled, before reaching out to bit that hand as it was coming closer.

Good thing he was a stuffed toy magically animated and didn't have any teeth.

"Now is not the time," Einhard said, praying that would get through this boy's thick head.

"Really, but--"

and it was then that Teo bit down and Goku's eyes got wide. He proceeded to lift his hand, and Teo with it. Something was off here.

"Shouldn't this hurt?"

Yeah. He's probably not the best person to be here.

Einhard blinked. "Please put my device back on my shoulder. I'm going to need his help against this army."

She shook her head. "No, because he's not a real animal nor does he have teeth."

"Wow, you're really Thor? Like the real Thor?" This young girl hardly seems fit for the field of battle in her current state. "Do you have a hammer? Can I see it?"

Less words, more fight. Save it from when people are going to listen.
