A few days have passed since the Qin army marched on Midgard's walls. The warriors already there don't know how much longer the front gate can last. The Qin forces are slowly picking off the wall's defenders, whittling down their numbers.

A metallic dragon twists and writhes in the sky, raining destruction from above. Sanzuwu streak back and forth across the sky, strafing and intercepting any aerial units. Shishi slam into the gates repeatedly, while terracotta soldiers make use of siege engines to break down the gate.

And finally, the inevitable occurs; the gate crashes open. Qin soldiers start flooding in.

But at that very moment...the Bifrost activates.

The first wave has come.

[[OoC: Welcome to the game! You'll be starting off fending off a Qin invasion. You are free to godmode enemies within reason, though the mods may occasionally take over from time to time. Defeat enough enemies, and a boss may appear...

Enemy types can be found with descriptions in the cut below.

Dragons - Strange, otherworldly energy beings that serve the Qin. They are given physical, robotic bodies in the form of classic Chinese dragons so that they can interact with physical world. Enormously powerful. Ascend to their home plane if their bodies are destroyed. There are only nine Dragons at any one time, but if ever one is defeated, its body can be rebuilt.

Fenghuang - Flying Qin battleships. Huge. Phoenix themed decoration. Lots of heavy weapons.

Sanzuwu - Qin fightercraft. Fast, lightly armed. Three distinctive landing gear that look like bird legs.

Yaoguai - Soldiers subject to modification experiments that didn't work properly. The Yaoguai are capable in combat, but their upgrades have left them mentally unstable and very violent.

Shishi - Robot lion statues. Powerful frontline warriors.

Terracotta Soldiers - Clay statues of soldiers that have been animated. The rank and file.

The streets of Southtown this ain't.

The armies are intimidating to say the least, but it's not like Terry is any stranger to seemingly impossible odds. He's a fighter born of the streets, after all. So it's giant dragons and statues and not a bunch of gang punks. Big deal. If you want to survive, you have to act first, think later.

And act he does. "POWER WAVE!" he shouts, pounding his fist into the ground. A force of chi cuts through a row of terra cotta soldiers in front of him. Living statues. Good grief.

He twists his cap around. "Hell of a welcoming party," he mutters, dashing into the fray.

The attack catches the attention of a knight nearby.

"You! That was a chi attack, was it not?"

"Hey, good eye man!" Terry calls back, lithely dodging amongst the statues. "BURN KNUCKLE!" Another demonstration as he shoots forth, energy surging from his fist, the force of his punch breaking apart his enemy. "You a martial artist yourself?"

"No, but I knew a master of the Ba Ji Quan martial arts style!" Gawain ran a soldier through with his sword, then kicked it off and into another pair of soldiers, causing all three to topple. "I can cover your back if you want to advance!"

"Great! I could use a striker!" He dodges a low hit, flipping through the air and landing a strike on his enemy with his heel. "CRACK SHOOT!"

He bounds off, striking everything he can with his fists. "Gotta say, I'd love to chat, but I think we're both kinda busy here!"

Gawain takes the opportunity to move behind Terry. Attacks bounce harmlessly off his armor, and the flames that his sword has begun to emit cause soldiers to crumble.

"Yes, quite so! All the more reason to survive, is it not?"

"Hah! You say that like I had any intention of dying! HUP!" He combos a statue into dust, strikes another with his foot, and generally makes a mess of things.

Something charges through, apparently completely disregarding its own unliving companions. It's huge, lumbering, and pissed. "Whoa! We got a live one over here!" Terry shouts, turning towards it -- and barely managing to twist out of the way as it swipes a powerful claw at him, leaving a shallow gash.

"Stand back, and take cover if you can find it!" Gawain focuses on the enemy at hand, and with a stance, then a few sword twirls, drops a heavy slash, engulfing the enemy in the flames of the sun.

Whoa ho ho. Terry knows a class act when he see one. He ducks and rolls behind one downed statue as the attack hits home, the creature roaring in pain. "Good grief! Makes me look like an amateur!"

"Don't worry about that!" Gawain resumed slicing soldiers. "You simply have the Knight of the Sun as a fighting partner -- that is all!"

He sees no point to hide his identity. He didn't do it at home, after all.

"Oh, is THAT all? Geez." Terry flips over the downed soldier and kicks it hard enough to shoot forward and knock over some more. "They call me the Legendary Hungry Wolf -- but you might as well just call me Terry!"

"Sir Gawain, at your service!" Another burst of flame, more enemies going down.

[rewindingly]

"Mm, it is, isn't it?"

Though the sound of her voice came from behind him, Homura seemed to appear in front of him in the blink of an eye with a M249 machine gun held in her arms. Her gaze flickered to the terra cotta soldiers as she took aim, before she calmly pressed the safety and let a stream of bullets fly. She stopped only when the linked belt was empty and tossed the gun to the ground without a second thought.
Then paused her motions, in the middle of reaching into her hammerspace shield, and looked back at Terry.

"I apologize for getting in your way. Are you unarmed?"

"Uh..."

Little girls with mysterious magical machine guns is a new thing for Terry, but hey, if she knows how to use it, who's he to argue? "Yeah, but that's not really an issue for me," he replies, kicking sideways and taking out the knee of one of the statues, causing it to tumble to the ground.

"THAT IS SO COOL!" comes a very excited high-pitched voice from behind him. Somehow, Thor had recruited a child who wore chains and who had a look on his face like the battle he's currently in was the best thing ever.

He also seemed to think Terry was the coolest thing ever (omg!) when he let off that chi blast and proceeded to follow him into the fray with a shout of "Do that again!"

Seriously. He's the coolest if he can do that!

And if Terry's blond hair was somehow a comfort? Well, that helped, too.

Okay, uh, he doesn't typically get asked for ENCORES in the middle of a fight. But far be it for Terry not to be tickled at least a little by flattering of his ego -- and it's not like a second round would exactly be a BAD thing in this situation. "You got it kid! POWER WAVE!" he shouts, plowing through yet another row of soldiers. Then, just for the hell of it, he throws his hat up in the air, "RISING TACKLE's" an incoming attack, and catches the hat again, putting it on his head.

Showboat, thy name is Terry.
