Opening Log

A few days have passed since the Qin army marched on Midgard's walls. The warriors already there don't know how much longer the front gate can last. The Qin forces are slowly picking off the wall's defenders, whittling down their numbers.

A metallic dragon twists and writhes in the sky, raining destruction from above. Sanzuwu streak back and forth across the sky, strafing and intercepting any aerial units. Shishi slam into the gates repeatedly, while terracotta soldiers make use of siege engines to break down the gate.

And finally, the inevitable occurs; the gate crashes open. Qin soldiers start flooding in.

But at that very moment...the Bifrost activates.

The first wave has come.

[[OoC: Welcome to the game! You'll be starting off fending off a Qin invasion. You are free to godmode enemies within reason, though the mods may occasionally take over from time to time. Defeat enough enemies, and a boss may appear...

Enemy types can be found with descriptions in the cut below.

Dragons - Strange, otherworldly energy beings that serve the Qin. They are given physical, robotic bodies in the form of classic Chinese dragons so that they can interact with physical world. Enormously powerful. Ascend to their home plane if their bodies are destroyed. There are only nine Dragons at any one time, but if ever one is defeated, its body can be rebuilt.

Fenghuang - Flying Qin battleships. Huge. Phoenix themed decoration. Lots of heavy weapons.

Sanzuwu - Qin fightercraft. Fast, lightly armed. Three distinctive landing gear that look like bird legs.

Yaoguai - Soldiers subject to modification experiments that didn't work properly. The Yaoguai are capable in combat, but their upgrades have left them mentally unstable and very violent.

Shishi - Robot lion statues. Powerful frontline warriors.

Terracotta Soldiers - Clay statues of soldiers that have been animated. The rank and file.

And finally, Thor has something to say to you.]

Gohan whirled around again and saw the Shishi charging him. He leaped at it, and with one punch, blew its head off.

"Thanks!"

Einhard gave a curt nod, before turning her attention to keep looking around for other threats, though for the moment it didn't seem like she could find any.

Which, going from those memories of Claus Ingvault, meant that they were going to be ambushed right about...

Something that looked different than the Terracotta but were definitely humanoid charged at the two of them, several of them and Einhard jumped back as they let out a scream.

Yup. Attempted ambush.

Einhard lashed out with her fists and legs, hoping that these new enemies weren't going to be much tougher to defeat than what they've fought so far.

Gohan hesitated for just a moment. This one seemed different from the enemies he had been fighting so far simply by virtue of being alive. He still hated killing living beings, even if they were the enemy.

However, they were the aggressors here, which means they should have been prepared to accept death if it came to it. Still, Gohan tried to solve the problem non-lethally. He grabbed the nearest Yaoguai and threw him into the others, causing a domino effect that knocked all of them off their feet, and two or three into unconsciousness.

Einhard sighed, taking out two more of her own and jumping back, holding her hands up on guard as a few of them started making it back to their feet. She knew she should press the advantage that Gohan had given her, but she couldn't. Not with these being living creatures.

It was a lot harder to decide to fight when what you were fighting against was alive and this was a real battler. Hopefully they'ed leave after-

One of them let out a scream, and they charged.

Einhard dropped back and sent blasts of wind in their direction, not as storng as her previous blasts but still ones that could knock these things out.

She hoped.

If that didn't, then the boy dashing around and chopping them in the back of the neck just might. Gohan was moving so quickly that he would have appeared to be teleporting to an insufficiently-trained eye.

Einhard wasn't an insufficiently trained eye though, and she could see Gohan moving just fine.

Between the two of them, it didn't look like these soldiers were going to last much longer. Even if it could've most likely just been Gohan.

Sure enough, they were down pretty quickly. Gohan stopped moving.

"These guys are the only living people close to us." Gohan looked around. "And we cleared out most of the moving statues around here."

Einhard nodded. "It doesn't look like most of their army has living creatures," she said, standing up and looking around as well. "It would've been nice if we had a better idea of just what we were dealing with."
